We are thrilled to share news of our 6,371st life saved in a choking emergency!
On July 26th, 2026 a 15 year old girl choked on a piece of pizza while suffering a seizure resulting in a complete airway obstruction. First aid choking protocol was followed and LifeVac. Both helping dislodge the obstruction. The child's grandmother described the incident as follows:
“She was having a seizure so her dad performed the abdominal thrusts until her mum was able to use the LifeVac. She wasn't out of the seizure completely when the LifeVac was used. The way I understand, the LifeVac got out what was still there. So between BOTH her dad performing the thrusts and the LifeVac her life was saved. Having the LifeVac there in order to make sure her airway was clear was such a relief for her parents until EMS arrived.
After thinking about it, 40 years ago I had to use the abdominal thrusts on my son who was choking on a piece of apple and about 11 years ago on our grandson who had sucked coco pop cereal into his airway."
