An elderly resident who suffers from a Neurological Disorder and is also a wheelchair user began to choke during meal time. Staff responded quickly delivering BLS protocol which unfortunately failed to dislodge the food stuck in his airway. The gentleman started to turn blue due to lack of oxygen. Staff quickly grabbed their LifeVac ACD from the wall mounted box which they had purchased a week prior. Within seconds LifeVac was used and dislodged the obstruction saving the gentleman's life, making a full recovery. He was sent to hospital due to receiving BLS protocol and was given the all clear.Ê
