On December 28th 2024, LifeVac® Saved it’s First Life in Sweden within a Choking Emergency

On December 28th, 2024, 26-year-old Ivan, who lives in Sweden, choked on pieces of food after vomiting during an Epileptic Seizure. Ivan suffers from Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability, Epilepsy, and relies on a wheelchair for daily tasks. Due to Ivan’s physical disabilities he cannot receive current recommended first aid choking protocol.

Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) is a medical emergency that can result in death, particularly if swift, appropriate action is not taken. It can be a frightening experience for all involved. LifeVac provides an additional alternative in the management of choking – Ivan’s Mother.

“We are proud to have helped save Ivan and provide peace of mind to his family. Ivan is our first life saved within Sweden. Sadly there are 1.3 billion people around the world with similar medical conditions as Ivan. These people cannot receive the current first aid choking protocol and this is where LifeVac® provides an additional option when faced with a choking emergency and the current first aid choking protocol fails or cannot be performed.” – LifeVac Europe
