On June 25th, 2025 a 3-year-old girl choked on a Tootsie Roll resulting in a partial airway obstruction. First aid choking protocol was followed. LifeVac successfully dislodged the food on the second application.
The child’s mother recalls the incident:
“My 3-year-old was watching tv with her brother and had gotten some sweets while I was getting myself dressed for the day. I heard her gagging and trying to spit when her big brother started yelling for me. I walked in and she was trying to cough and could barely get the word “stuck” out of her mouth. I picked her up ran down to our kitchen, grabbed our LifeVac and laid her flat on the kitchen floor. After two attempts the sweet came out of her throat and she started coughing.
Thank you all SO MUCH for creating such an amazing device. Words can’t explain how grateful I am to have had it when I needed it. My daughter is doing great, 10 min later no one would have ever known that moments prior she almost lost her life. I want to thank you all for what you’re doing, I’m so incredibly grateful to have had our LifeVac. From today forward I swear I’ll never live in a home where a LifeVac isn’t ready and available. I can’t believe that I didn’t have one with my older two kids but thank God today I did have it and my daughter is alive and well because of you all. Thank you so much!!”
