Chimnies Residential Care Home in Medway in Special Measures Following CQC Inspection

A care home in Rochester has been put in special measures after a damning report by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Chimnies Residential Care Home in Stoke Road, Allhallows has 25 people, but can take up to 29, who are aged 65 or over.

The Government watchdog for health and social care, the CQC, has just published its finding after an unannounced visit by inspectors. It has been given an overall rating of “inadequate”.

Inspectors found a catalogue of failings at the care home and said if the provider Chimnies Ltd did not made enough improvements in six months’ time, it would start the process of stopping it running the home.

Choking risks:

Choking risks to residents had not been appropriately addressed. Inspectors saw one resident lying flat in bed eating their meal with no-one there. And despite one person’s record showing a GP has said they must have pureed meals, they were given a roast dinner on the day of the inspection.
